The Funeral Service was held in the Church of St Mary Magdalen, Madingley, Cambs. It was attended by approximately 40 family & friends of whom around 18 were members or former members of the CTC.

The service was conducted by the Rev. John Mullett, the organist was Mrs Jan Pearson. The hymns were "All things Bright and Beautiful", "The Lord's my Shepherd" and "Praise my Soul the King of Heaven".

Readings by Joy Downey, Iain Downey spoke at some length of Peter's life. How he used to cycle to Madingley Church from Cambridge as a boy, his connections with the Scouts and his cycling with the Cambridge D.A. of the CTC.

A note from Genevieve Downey, aged 6, read
"Dear Uncle Peter,
Your heart is peaceful, you can't suffer anymore. Have a happy life in Heaven and keep on cycling in the beautiful sunshine."
