M11 Crossings
By Peter Rowell
Most crossings in our area are main road crossings but are reasonably useable except perhaps in times of very heavy traffic. With the new developements (existing and proposed) in the area it will not improve. In time it will be necessary to provide more crossings. Approach roads to  Cambridge are congested now up to five miles in the rush period. If this continues it will be quicker to get into Cambridge by bike than by car for those living within five miles of Cambridge. When a new cycle/footpath was constructed beside the A1303, there was a marked increase in cycle commuting from the Cambourne area (9 miles from Cambridge).
