A428 Crossings
Eaton Socon to Girton
By Peter Rowell

This road was a busy road with traffic sometimes queueing up to 5 miles from Cambridge, the situation has eased with the construction of the Caxton Gibbet to Madingley by-pass. It was a very risky road for cyclists. It was improved, first by the construction of the Coton to Hardwick dual use path and later by the construction of the dual carriageway which left the old road to local traffic. With the developement of Cambourne there was a steady increase in the number of cyclists commuting to Cambridge. It is now a reasonably quiet road.
